　私の住まいの目の前が議員宿舎である。松岡氏が自殺したとき、ヘリは飛ぶわカメラ抱えた報道陣は殺到するわで、ワゴンにおせんやキャラメルを置いて販売したくなるほどの観光地となっていた。えらい活気だ。さすが都会だね。六本木から歩いて二十分の一等地だ。と思ったのもつかの間、いまやかの場は廃墟である。ほぼ国営の廃マンションに近い。明かりはごく一部にしか灯らず、警備員詰め所らしき部屋だけがただ煌々と赤いランプを点けているだけだ。誰を何から守っているのだろうか。


　せっかく建設したのにいまや事故物件であるいま、3LDK月家賃九万円という国民感情無視の施設が目の前に建立されているだけで当方まで鬱な気分になる。全部屋貸してくれれば又貸しして驚きの利益率を叩きだせるに違いない。


　溜池山王から赤坂にかけては不思議な地域で、三国人街が軒を連ね焼肉屋が日本人用と韓国人用の二種類の値段をつけたメニューを出すかと思えば、どこからか現れるインド人が不思議なカレー屋を開店してて、向こうにはプチエンジェル事件で話題となったウィークリーマンションが怪しいオーラを放っており、その斜向かいには新たな高層マンションが現在建設途上であって目の前の細い道の流れを建設用トラックが止めては顰蹙を買っている。コンビニは大量にあって韓国人だか中国人だか分からない外人がやる気なさげに昼飯をサラリーマンに売りつけ、休日になると夕食候補が松屋かオリジン弁当ぐらいしか見当たらなくなるほどほとんどの飯屋が閉まる。


　バブルの後遺症からか、木造の古きよき佇まいの料亭と「金があったので改装してみました」的近代建築化した料亭とが並存してるのも赤坂だ。見苦しいというわけではないが、夜に出歩いていると千鳥足の元日経鶴田氏が何か喚きながら歩いていたり、野中広務氏が千鳥足っぽい足取りで黒塗りの車に乗り込もうとしてたりするのがただの一風景になってしまうほどの異空間である。


　料亭街を通り過ぎると歩いて一分もかからず官邸なんだが、ふと目を脇にやると外資系保険屋のビルが建ってたり外資系に買われたホテルが建ってたり外資系しか入ってないやたら高価なオフィスビルが建ってたりする。排ガスまみれの角に建つコマツビルを見るたび悲しくなる。


　普通の国ではさ、キャピタルがある周辺にはスパイが身隠しできるような草むらは作らないもんだと思うよ。確かに議員が地方から出てきて滞在するのに金がかかりすぎるのは問題であるから、宿泊施設をきちんと整備しようというのはいいんだけれども、ややこしい人たちがすぐ数百メートルのところに出入りできるような官邸周辺って本当に大丈夫なの？　と思うわけで。
